OII launches public website

The Office of Independent Investigations (OII) has launched its public website, oii.wa.gov, a significant milestone for the agency and a key means of ensuring that information about OII’s work will be easily available to the public.

The website is mobile friendly so it can be used on any device. It was developed with the assistance of Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech) Website Services team and the Office of Financial Management (OFM).

"The public expects that all government agencies have a website, particularly an agency like ours that prominently has the word "transparency” within our authorizing statute," OII director Roger Rogoff said. "I want to thank all of those who worked so hard to create our site, a key step as we work toward becoming operational. It will become the place where we update the public about ongoing investigations, provide a portal for submitting requests for review of previously-investigated cases, and share information about our policies and protocols.”

Email ContactUs@oii.wa.gov for suggestions on content or other improvements to the agency’s new website.

The state Legislature created OII in 2021 to conduct independent and unbiased investigations of deadly use of force by law enforcement. OII is unique in the nation in that it is led by a civilian director. It also works with an 11-member advisory board that reviews and provides input on agency policies.

OII is not yet conducting investigations, but recently activated its hotline for law enforcement agencies to report incidents of deadly use-of-force cases.
