Olympia, Wash – The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations (OII) has identified the officer involved in a use of deadly force incident as Vancouver Police Officer Kyle Beguelin Flores, 28.
Officer Beguelin Flores was hired in May 2021 and is assigned to East Patrol.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the person who died as Adam Grant Gunderson, 45, of Vancouver. An OII family liaison has been assigned and is in communication with Mr. Gunderson’s family.
The Vancouver Police Department notified OII that at about 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2024, their officers contacted a man in the parking lot of the Safeway at 13719 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver, Wash. Vancouver police reported that there was an altercation, an officer fired his weapon, and the man died as a result. Police reported that the man was armed with a firearm at the time.
